Our Choirs

Umpqua Youth Chorale will perform classical choral repertoire from Renaissance to the present in languages from around the globe. Three choirs comprise UYC: Prelude for elementary students, Cantata for middle grades, and Chorale for high school students and adults, ages 14 and up.

Elementary Honor Choir

Umpqua Youth Chorale is sponsoring an Elementary Honor Choir in 2026, held at Sutherlin HS for students in grades 4-5 (and 6, if at a K-6 elementary). This gives budding singers a chance to see what great choir experiences are all about! With additional performances by local middle school choirs, and a combined piece that brings over 130 singers together in harmony, this event helps show new singers the magic of choral singing. This year’s dates are October 10 (rehearsal) and October 17 (rehearsal and performance). Email us for more information, as this event is open to any interested 4th and 5th grader with a teacher recommendation.

Cantata

Cantata is open to singers ages 11 (grade 6) and up. This high-level choir will introduce youth to a challenging repertoire from around the world and through the ages. Singers will hone their performance skills and work on more complex harmonies and rhythms. Cantata is directed by Taylor Siling with accompanist Stacey Atwell-Keister. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 6-7 pm in the Fremont Middle School choir room.

Chorale

Chorale is an AUDITION ONLY ENSEMBLE for high school students and adults ages 14 and up. The focus of this group will be competition-level singing and touring. Chorale is directed by UYC founder Stacey Atwell-Keister and accompanied by Anna Allen. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 6-7:30 in the Fremont Middle School choir room.
